Vegetation Certificate of Competency
The City of Sanibel requires ALL contractors working with vegetation, including contractors that only apply fertilizer, to possess a valid Vegetation Certificate of Competency.
In order to receive a Vegetation Certificate of Competency, applicants must pass: - A written test covering the Sanibel vegetation standards.
- A field identification test of Sanibel's most common native and invasive exotic plants.
To pass, applicants must score 90% or better on the written test and 100% on the field identification test. Fertilizer Endorsement
In addition to the Vegetation Certificate of Competency, contractors applying fertilizer must also obtain a Fertilizer Endorsement on their license. In order to receive the Endorsement, the applicant must possess a valid Vegetation Certificate of Competency and score 90% or better on a written test covering the specific requirements of the Sanibel Fertilizer Ordinance. For companies with multiple employees, not all employees are required to obtain the Fertilizer Endorsement. However, companies must have at least one City certified person on site anytime fertilizers are being applied. |
